The explanation is always ready.
Someone asks why the thing you have been wanting has not arrived, and the answer assembles itself before you have finished deciding to speak.
The timing, the circumstances, the piece that needs to settle first. Each reason pressing neatly against the one before it with a care you may not notice you are spending.
You tell it the same way each time, the pieces in order, the phrasing steady, the whole thing polished enough that no one thinks to press further.
A friend nods and something in you softens, not because the explanation is true but because it was received without a follow-up.
The delay has a name now, and the name lives somewhere outside you.
THE FOUNDING FATHERS HAD A SOUNDTRACK
George Washington heard it.
Benjamin Franklin heard it.
Paul Revere heard it.
For over 300 years, this was locked inside private ceremonies performed by some of the most powerful men in history.
No recording existed.
No outsider had ever witnessed it.
Until one man… a member for twenty years… broke his oath of silence and captured it.
This isn’t a modern creation.
Nobody "designed" this in a lab.
It comes from a living tradition that predates the founding of America.
The same ceremony.
The same tones.
Passed down through generations behind closed doors.
The man who recorded it says he felt the effects in his bones the first time he heard it. Goosebumps.
Tears.
A sense that something ancient had just woken up inside him.
He’s now sharing it publicly for the first time.
The men who guard this tradition are not pleased.
But he believes it’s too powerful to keep hidden while good people are struggling.
P.S. He’s an accountant, not a guru. That’s part of why I trust him.
🪞 THE CAUSE SITS OUTSIDE YOU
A story that places the cause entirely in timing or circumstances may feel simpler to carry than the possibility that something in your own patterns is also shaping what reaches you.
One asks only for patience. The other asks for something without a comfortable name yet.
Often, the answer is shaped before anyone asks. Its edges smoothed until it sounds less like a feeling and more like a case.
When someone responds with a question instead of a nod, something tightens. As though their curiosity has come close to something you are standing in front of.
After a moment of private doubt you may find yourself returning to the story, running through it again the way you might check a door you already know is locked.
Not because the story is dishonest.
Because it has become a familiar place to rest.
Every time the explanation is accepted, the question underneath it stays where it is a little longer.
🕯️ IT WAS NEVER A LIE
It was a shelter. A version of events where the cause sits comfortably outside you and the response it requires is one you have practiced for years.
The story may have taken the shape it did because something in you was looking for the gentlest place to hold the weight of wanting something that has not come.
The care you spent building the explanation is not a flaw. It may be the clearest sign of how much what you want actually matters to you.
🌤️ THE QUESTION UNDERNEATH
What kept the story in place was never dishonesty but the tenderness of what it was shaped to stand in front of.
The explanation may not need to be wrong for the question beneath it to be worth sitting with.
📖 WHERE DOES YOUR EXPLANATION USUALLY PLACE THE CAUSE?
