You tell the story with practiced ease, the same careful sentences about where it started and who shaped it, and the person across from you nods the way they always do.
You know why you are guarded, or cautious, or drawn to the same shape of distance in every close relationship.
The explanation is real. It was shaped over years of honest looking back.
And it is true.
But the knowing stopped moving a long time ago, and you may not have noticed when understanding became the place you rest instead of the door you walk through.
DOCTOR: STOP BLADDER LEAKS (NO KEGELS!)
Kegel was the worst mistake of my life. —Why?
Because not only can Kegel balls spread disease because of their porous, hard-to-clean surface, but I actually got one trapped inside of me.
…which forced me to call 911. It was awful!
—The result? Heaven!
Now I’m no longer afraid to wear light pants, dance, or be intimate with my husband.
Better yet, the doctor who uncovered this secret also posted a video, that’s free for the next few days, where she shows you what to do.
Don’t wait:
🔍 WHERE THE STORY CLOSES THE CONVERSATION
A practiced explanation for a pattern can start to feel like the resolution of it. The story offers the relief of being understood without the exposure of becoming different.
It shows up in the way you describe your early years with a knowing half-smile, the same phrases each time, as though reading aloud from something you finished writing a long time ago.
Same sentences, same soft arrival.
A friend names something they see in you and you say “I know, I have always been like that” before they finish.
The conversation closes right there. The knowing absorbs the observation before it can land anywhere new.
You can describe exactly where a wound came from and what shaped it, but you have never once described what your life would feel like without it.
The origin has an answer. The future stays unasked.
Somewhere along the way, the story became a place to settle inside rather than a passage to move through and leave behind.
🕯️ THE KNOWING WAS NOT A FAILURE
It was something your system built to make sense of a world that did not make sense on its own, and the relief it gave was earned.
It held things steady when holding steady was all that was available. That was needed, and it was real.
But understanding where a wound came from and living beyond it are not the same motion.
One is an explanation. The other is a life.
🌤️ AN UNFINISHED SENTENCE
The story may have been a gift the first time it arrived, a way to name what had been nameless and to feel less lost inside it.
Your system may have been so grateful for the first coherent account of itself that it never asked whether there was something on the other side of it.
What you feel now may not be a wall but something more like an unfinished sentence, a story that told you where you had been and stopped just before telling you where you could go.
The explanation was the first thing you understood about yourself.
Perhaps it was never meant to be where you stopped.
🚪 WHAT DOES YOUR EXPLANATION USUALLY DO FOR YOU?
💛 In prosperity and kindness,
Charmayne
