Everyone agrees that nature is strong, resilient, beautiful, persistent, and creative. But is it everlasting?
It is important to understand why this is an important question for you, because humans are also members of the natural world. You can be strong, resilient, beautiful, persistent, and creative yourself, but is your work everlasting?
💧 Nature Is Susceptible to Itself
We need rain to flourish and to help vegetation grow, to provide water in the lakes and all freshwater resources, and to keep our bodies alive. But when nature floods the Earth with torrential rains, tears our lives apart with tornadoes, or bakes us with drought, we see the flip side of nature's beauty.
⚡️ The Power of Nature, Organic and Free
Nature has its own power. Who or what can stop a tornado? That person, or device, has not been invented. In The Power Of Nature, humans acknowledge that “nature acts on the planet on a scale that dwarfs most human processes. The Earth’s powerful climate system is a case in point. The impact it has on every person in the world makes clear one basic fact: We are small, we are fragile, we are the ones at risk.” So while we admire the power of nature, we are also cautious of it, and fearful of it when it becomes hurricanes, diseases, cyclones, and earthquakes.
We are dancing together on this planet, and as you are a part of nature, reflect on the power of your own self and your creativity, your ideas that help flood the market with new inventions, and the astonishing power of your thoughts that can take a simple idea and create a powerful tool, such as a computer. Caution should be heeded when humans create havoc and destruction just because they can, and because of their own unawareness.
The difference between nature, and you as a human, is that you have a large brain capacity, and you can diverge from the path of a tornado, you can evacuate from the onslaught of a flood, and escape fires, all with transportation made by the genius of humans, to safer ground.
Humans can do this, but how does this power manifest personally for you?
🌱 Harness the Power of Nature Within Yourself
First:
Recognize and accept that you are part of nature, not separate from it. Although it is tempting to think that humans are so far above the rest of creation that they can do anything they want, that is far from true.
Humans are connected to all of nature through similar biological processes. We all breathe the same air on the planet, and we all require food and water.
Humanity has a driving need to manifest its thoughts and desires. It is natural and normal to want, to need, and to bring your ideas into the physical world. The plants and animals have the same needs: shelter, water, food, and the love and care of family members. Humans and animals both want success in their lives.
Second:
Many of our human expressions have evolved based on the incessant need for survival.
Humans and other species discovered that bunching together greatly improved their chance of survival. Over time, this has significantly increased the lifespan of humans, especially.
Important to survival is the need to procreate to continue the lifecycle. This is a natural aspect of nature. Included in the continuation of the species is also the need for food and shelter.
And importantly, and maybe the most important aspect of all, is the need for cohabitation. The need for companionship is essential in humans, and finding the right partner is basic to our success as individuals.
Third:
The powerful forces of destruction and regeneration exist throughout creation. It is normal to be hurt and devastated by destruction, and also normal to regrow the flora and fauna, and our lives, afterward.
All of nature has an innate ability to rebuild. A driving desire to regain what is lost, and the strength to withstand the storm, pick up the pieces, and plant our feet on the ground and grow tall again.
Fourth:
All of nature depends on cycles. There are planting seasons and harvesting seasons. Since ancient times, humans have been keen about when to plant, when to harvest, the signs of first spring, first fall, and a few flakes of snow heralding winter. Moving to higher ground, lower ground, or more abundant and fertile areas is significant to survival.
Fifth:
There are times to let go of the old and begin new chapters in our lives. Although built into the psychology of human nature is the desire to control everything in our lives, we know that is not possible.
An intuitive person understands and uses the psychology of nature to work in cycles and to adapt to the same.
Nature has rhythms, which are inherent within. But humans want to create their own rhythms. Too often, nature resists change. This is the key to understanding why things don’t always happen when you want them to. They will happen when everything is aligned and is perfect.
🍃 The Power of Nature Is Nourishing
Understanding how all of nature, including humans, must work together on this planet is most important.
Take time to exercise, to work on your health choices, and to get to know the ‘other’ nature in your life that surrounds you in farm fields, mountains, and lakes. From Psychology Today, “Study after study has proven you can decrease the likelihood of heart disease, lower your blood pressure and increase your stamina by taking a moment to stroll through the park, woods or nearby green space.”
We cannot live without nature, but it could live without us. The Nature Conservancy describes it this way: “People often marvel at the sight of some of our accomplishments - skyscrapers, interstate highways, or machines that fly. But these achievements are dwarfed by the awesome power of nature, working sometimes over millions of years, to create some of the most fundamental and sophisticated systems on the planet. Because many of these systems operate in the background, we often see nature as passive. But it is not. Nature shapes our landscapes and maintains crucial processes on which we all depend, from photosynthesis to pollination.” Absolutely, we could not survive without nature as it was intended.
🌊 Realizing Your Power in Nature Is Liberating
Understanding that you are not alone and you are part of a much bigger picture liberates you from thinking that you have to do everything by yourself.
To better understand your connection with the power of nature, do these two things:
Take walks in nature, in the park, in the mountains, in the valley. Even 15 minutes in nature will feel wonderful and liberating.
When you feel lonely, remember that nature can be your friend if you seek it out and enjoy it.
Take some time to find a tree in the forest. Sit under it, align with it, and commune with it. Oftentimes, within minutes, you will feel the power of nature and the same power within yourself. Dance with the power of nature and let it uplift you to healthy new levels.
🌊 May you always find renewal in the rhythms of nature.
